Twelve decades later, it won&#8217;t make the top 30. (If only Amazon would have been interested in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citylab.com\/equity\/2018\/12\/amazon-hq2-gentrification-jobs-new-york-virginia\/576313\/\">creating 25,000 jobs<\/a>\u00a0somewhere that desperately wanted them&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Although it wasn&#8217;t the fastest-growing state this time \u2014 &#8220;only&#8221; third, percentage-wise \u2014 Utah has the second-highest fertility rate in the country, and even <em>that<\/em> is at replacement rate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gardner.utah.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/Population-Estimates-Dec2018.pdf\">The main growth in Utah<\/a>\u00a0(PDF), like everywhere else in the country, is around an urban area, in this case Salt Lake City and, to a lesser extent, Provo.<\/p>\n<p>Falling into the fourth quintile of population has one more side effect: For the next two Congresses, Iowa won&#8217;t be the state with the highest number of people per House district (in multi-member states).
