{"id":10562,"date":"2019-01-09T10:00:44","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T16:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=10562"},"modified":"2019-01-07T23:49:08","modified_gmt":"2019-01-08T05:49:08","slug":"double-diverging-diamonds-for-linn-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2019\/01\/double-diverging-diamonds-for-linn-county\/","title":{"rendered":"Double diverging diamonds for Linn County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iowadot.gov\/ole\/nepaprojects\/projects\/i380blairsferryroad\/20180926LinnEAI380TowerTerrace.pdf\">most recent environmental assessment<\/a> (large PDF) for an expanded I-380 on the north side of Linn County has something new for the state of Iowa: consecutive diverging diamond interchanges.<\/p>\n<p>Today, there is only one diverging diamond interchange in the state: the one at the far fringe of Waukee\/West Des Moines. Two others\u00a0are planned in the Des Moines area, <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2015\/12\/iowas-second-diverging-diamond-planned-for-ankeny\/\">I-35 at 1st Street in Ankeny<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2014\/05\/diverging-diamond-interchange-in-urbandale\/\">I-35\/80 at Hickman Road<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The plan for Linn County\u00a0replaces I-380&#8217;s diamond interchange at Boyson Road with a DDI and also puts a DDI at the new Tower Terrace Road interchange to the north. I-380 will be six-laned all the way up to the County Home Road exit (that currently ends at Blairs Ferry Road).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.iowadot.gov\/pim\/2018\/12\/i-380-linn-county-january-22.html\">There will be a hearing on Jan. 22<\/a>, with a formal presentation, which we don&#8217;t get much nowadays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The most recent environmental assessment (large PDF) for an expanded I-380 on the north side of Linn County has something new for the state of Iowa: consecutive diverging diamond interchanges.
