Again."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The as-yet-unnamed second Waukee high school is 2\u00bd years from opening, and before that time, school officials will have to plot out a feeder system. First, though, it has to cope with an <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2017\/01\/waukee-added-gladbrook-reinbecks-entire-enrollment\/\">entire district&#8217;s worth of students<\/a> pouring in each year.<\/p>\n<p>When Waukee opened its eighth elementary in 2016, it resulted in the seventh adjustment of school boundaries in 22 years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/local\/waukee\/2015\/09\/10\/waukee-redraws-school-boundaries\/71954288\/\">the <em>Des Moines Register<\/em> reported<\/a>. Now it&#8217;s time for elementary number nine, Radiant, which the district says <a href=\"https:\/\/waukeeschools.org\/news\/2016\/11\/name-radiant-elementary-honors-coal-mining-heritage-of-community\/\">refers to a coal company<\/a> that operated in the area in the early 20th century. In five years, Radiant is projected to have more students in kindergarten through fifth grade than the K-12 enrollments of more than half the districts in Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>No word on whether elementary number ten will be named Terrific or Some Pig.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/waukeeschools.org\/app\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2019\/01\/Board-Revised-Elementary-Boundary-Concept-1A-.pdf\">Here&#8217;s the map approved last week<\/a>\u00a0(PDF), which marks out the prime farmland that will be plowed under for an Apple data center on the district&#8217;s western edge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The as-yet-unnamed second Waukee high school is 2\u00bd years from opening, and before that time, school officials will have to plot out a feeder system.
