(&#8220;Known author&#8221;? As opposed to &#8220;Unknown author?&#8221;) Maulsby, who previously wrote <a href=\"http:\/\/www.darcymaulsby.com\/product-detail\/book-a-culinary-history-of-iowa-sweet-corn-pork-tenderloins-maid-rites-more-paperback-book-from-the-american-palate-series-\/a-culinary-history-of-iowa-sweet-corn-pork-tenderloins-maid-rites-more-paperback-book-from-the-american-palate-series-\"><em>A Culinary History of Iowa<\/em><\/a>, says the idea came from a blog post (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.darcymaulsby.com\/blog\/iowas-lost-history-from-the-titanic\/\">most likely this one<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The most famous Iowans on the ship were first-class passengers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegazette.com\/subject\/news\/archive\/time-machine\/time-machine-gifted-singer-and-cedar-rapids-socialite-mahala-dutton-benedict-douglas-her-husband-perished-on-titanic-20190910\">Walter and Mahala Douglas<\/a>, but other connections include a group heading to Stanton. There are enough people with links to Iowa and the <em>Titanic<\/em> that Brucemore had an exhibit in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The book won&#8217;t include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegazette.com\/2012\/04\/13\/mention-of-cedar-rapids-still-a-titanic-mystery\">later Cedar Rapids resident Rose (DeWitt-Bukater) (Dawson) Calvert<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Oooohhhh&#8230;.two of my favorite subjects in one.)
