{"id":11476,"date":"2019-10-25T10:04:39","date_gmt":"2019-10-25T15:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=11476"},"modified":"2019-10-24T00:19:14","modified_gmt":"2019-10-24T05:19:14","slug":"its-back-to-the-future-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2019\/10\/its-back-to-the-future-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s &#8216;Back to the Future&#8217; weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2019&#8217;s calendar is 1985&#8217;s calendar (and also 2002&#8217;s calendar), so that means that this weekend \u2014 October 25-27 \u2014 is the same Friday\/Saturday\/Sunday as when the <em>Back to the Future<\/em> trilogy takes place. <a href=\"http:\/\/backintimefilm.com\/\">A fan documentary<\/a> is airing Friday night at 8 on KFXA 28.3.<\/p>\n<p>This summer a large part of my road trip podcast diet was the <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2017\/10\/theres-a-back-to-the-future-minute-podcast\/\">&#8220;Back to the Future Minute&#8221;<\/a>, which has since gone through the entire trilogy. This crew wasn&#8217;t as great as the &#8220;Star Wars Minute&#8221; guys were with the source material \u2014 or, in some cases, Americana in general. (I was yelling when they didn&#8217;t know what a gas war was.) And there were some episodes that just went painfully off the rails.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.duelinggenre.com\/bttf-minute-51-acting-politicians\/\">Minute 51, &#8220;Acting Politicians&#8221;<\/a>, was\u00a0released December 14, 2015 \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/poll.qu.edu\/national\/release-detail?ReleaseID=2311\">six weeks before the Iowa caucuses<\/a>. I didn&#8217;t listen to it until July, and &#8230; the 3\u00bd-year delay put an entirely different spin on it.<\/p>\n<p>That aside, <em>BTTF<\/em> remains one of my three most favorite movies and it&#8217;s still a bit hard to believe <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2015\/10\/the-future-is-here\/\">the future is now in the past.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2019&#8217;s calendar is 1985&#8217;s calendar (and also 2002&#8217;s calendar), so that means that this weekend \u2014 October 25-27 \u2014 is the same Friday\/Saturday\/Sunday as when the Back to the Future trilogy takes place.
