I checked it off, along with the Cassville ferry, in fall 2011. Then I <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2017\/11\/whats-better-than-a-gunderburger\/\">checked it off again in 2017<\/a>, the same year it was on a <a href=\"https:\/\/wcfcourier.com\/news\/local\/gunderburger-makes-top-10-list-of-best-iowa-burgers\/article_0a21c84a-13fc-5fc7-a856-e9de362223dc.html\">list of Iowa&#8217;s best burgers<\/a>. There will not be a third.<\/p>\n<p>I have found out, a year after the fact, that the Irish Shanty <a href=\"https:\/\/khak.com\/you-can-no-longer-get-a-gunderburger-at-the-irish-shanty\/\">shut down last year<\/a>. Yes, there is a spelling change in there: The restaurant changed hands June 1, 2018, according <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postvilleherald.com\/?q=content\/lucas-gibbs-has-purchased-irish-shanty-gunder-he-begins-his-career-established-business\">to this article in the <em>Postville Herald<\/em><\/a>, and the new owner modified the name. He lasted precisely 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant business is low-margin, fickle and merciless.
