{"id":12541,"date":"2020-11-23T10:00:55","date_gmt":"2020-11-23T16:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=12541"},"modified":"2020-11-22T20:44:43","modified_gmt":"2020-11-23T02:44:43","slug":"christmas-is-saved-temporarily","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2020\/11\/christmas-is-saved-temporarily\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas is saved (temporarily)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the news that Apple was going to be the exclusive streaming home of Peanuts specials, including those that had aired on broadcast TV for decades, there was a backlash, <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2020\/10\/so-you-want-to-be-scared\/\">here included.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Apple listened, at least a little. &#8220;A Charlie Brown Christmas&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/about\/about-pbs\/blogs\/news\/apple-pbs-team-up-for-broadcasts-of-a-charlie-brown-thanksgiving-a-charlie-brown-christmas\/\">will be shown this year on PBS<\/a> without commercial interruption. (&#8220;A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving&#8221; aired last night.)\u00a0This is especially nice because for years if not since ABC took over the showings, commercial breaks have been inserted where they were obviously not supposed to go.<\/p>\n<p>By all accounts, this appears to be a one-shot deal. Many stories about it continue to ignore the fact that streaming services are unavailable to millions of Americans at any price.
