(See, for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vintontoday.com\/articles\/News\/article1028326.html\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/decorahnews.com\/news\/995\/eight-decorah-high-school-speech-contest-entries-earn-all-state-recognition\/\">here<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.raccoonvalleyradio.com\/2021\/02\/17\/all-state-large-group-speech-announced\/\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kniakrls.com\/2021\/02\/18\/area-high-school-speech-groups-earn-all-state-honors\/\">here<\/a>.) Each locally-focused story, though, contains one sad detail: There will be no All-State performance day. Again.<\/p>\n<p>I think that All-State Speech is the first notable Iowa event to be cancelled for the second year in a row. Cedar Rapids is having a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcrg.com\/2021\/01\/17\/sapadapaso-drive-thru-parade-to-be-held-at-hawkeye-downs\/\">drive-thru parade<\/a> for St. Patrick&#8217;s Day, or maybe a better term is reverse parade, where people go past the floats.<\/p>\n<p>As someone who made All-State Speech, I know what two years of kids are missing out on, and that&#8217;s very sad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Large Group All-State Speech honors were given out to Iowa high school students last week.
