Stories: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/2021\/02\/25\/ankeny-teen-among-first-female-eagle-scouts-central-iowa\/4575074001\/\"><em>Des Moines Register<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kyoutv.com\/2021\/02\/25\/making-history-local-teenager-becomes-first-female-eagle-scout-in-central-iowa\/\">KYOU (with video)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They are among the first 1,000 girls nationwide to make Eagle, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scouting.org\/program-updates\/inaugural-class-of-female-eagle-scouts\/\">all with an official date of February 8<\/a> to coincide with the anniversary of the creation of the Boy Scouts of America. Interestingly, the <em>Register&#8217;s<\/em> article pegs the percentage of Scouts who become Eagles at 6%, not 4% as (formerly?) promoted by the National Eagle Scout Association.<\/p>\n<p>Tama County is included in the Mid-Iowa Council, so they are my <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2018\/12\/the-ninth-and-possibly-last-school-directions-booklet\/\">sorta-cohorts<\/a>, organization-wise. The Mid-Iowa Council&#8217;s summer camp, <a href=\"https:\/\/campiowa.org\/mitigwa-scout-reservation\/\">Mitigwa, means &#8220;Maker of Men&#8221;<\/a>, so we might have to fudge things slightly on that end from now on.
