{"id":12935,"date":"2021-04-16T10:00:07","date_gmt":"2021-04-16T15:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=12935"},"modified":"2021-04-12T16:53:06","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T21:53:06","slug":"theres-a-creek-there","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2021\/04\/theres-a-creek-there\/","title":{"rendered":"There&#8217;s a creek there?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.iowadot.gov\/newsandinfo\/2021\/04\/public-input-requested-for-proposed-improvements-on-iowa-8-in-tama-county.html\">From the DOT&#8217;s website<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>The Iowa Department of Transportation is requesting public input for proposed improvements on Iowa 8 in Tama County.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>OK, pertinent to my interests.<\/p>\n<p><em>The proposed project includes the removal and replacement of an existing 12\u2019 x 4\u2019 box culvert under Iowa 8 at Rock Creek, 0.4 miles west of the west junction with Iowa 21 in Tama County.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The creek in question <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/@42.1811791,-92.3550683,3a,75y,24.36h,80.62t\/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sC6Kxb9lbz0Un-1DC2lj_WA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656\">does not appear to be there<\/a> in the real world; it looks much more like a waterway. This spot appears to be a branch of the water feature whose course starts to flow west of V Avenue, is channelized between there and IA 21, then flows northeast to eventually join the Cedar River east of La Porte City.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the DOT is having the requisite public input period (<a href=\"https:\/\/iowadot.gov\/pim\/documents\/IA8TamaDA.pdf\">PDF ad here<\/a>) and it&#8217;ll happen next year.
