{"id":14049,"date":"2022-04-20T10:10:30","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T15:10:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=14049"},"modified":"2022-04-19T00:45:00","modified_gmt":"2022-04-19T05:45:00","slug":"south-page-exploring-partial-sharing-with-bedford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2022\/04\/south-page-exploring-partial-sharing-with-bedford\/","title":{"rendered":"South Page exploring partial sharing with Bedford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A month ago, the Clarinda school district voted to end a partial-day sharing arrangement with South Page High School that had students from the latter coming to the former in the afternoons. <a href=\"https:\/\/clarindaherald.com\/news\/local\/clarinda-ends-sharing-agreement-with-south-page\/article_a0a3c04e-a55a-11ec-b0e2-1b8f608258c2.html\">According to the <em>Clarinda Herald-Journal<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmaland.com\/news\/clarinda-agreements-end-leaves-south-page-scrambling\/article_ffc80678-a089-11ec-877a-c306da4e7f6a.html\">KMA<\/a>, increased enrollment in Clarinda and staffing concerns played roles in the decision. Left unmentioned, the latter story notes, is the sports sharing agreement; South Page has not had independent athletics <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2019\/01\/south-page-gives-up-sports\/\">since 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow night, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmaland.com\/news\/south-page-explores-tuition-agreement-with-bedford\/article_bcbb23ba-bf1f-11ec-9701-8f24c1e17f2d.html\">reports KMA<\/a>, there will be a meeting in College Springs to talk about a partial-day sharing agreement with Bedford. Bedford is one of the other two districts that borders South Page, but it&#8217;s 40 miles away.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in Iowa, Ar-We-Va has been doing partial-day sharing with Carroll <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1380kcim.com\/2016\/02\/22\/ar-we-va-to-maintain-partnership-with-ccsd-for-hs-partial-grade-sharing\/\">since 2016<\/a>. Paton-Churdan had an agreement with Greene County for 2019-21, but the only update I can find is that the <a href=\"http:\/\/beeherald.com\/news\/superintendent-christensen-will-end-greene-county-tenure-after-15-years\">retiring Greene County superintendent<\/a> &#8220;was proud of the continued sharing partnership with Paton-Churdan.&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/beeherald.com\/news\/p-c-will-pay-more-play-sports-take-classes-jefferson\">Said the <em>Jefferson Herald<\/em><\/a>\u00a0when the previous agreement was ratified: &#8220;It may actually be easier to persuade North Korea to de-nuclearize than to convince the Paton-Churdan Community School District to enter into whole-grade sharing with its neighbor to the south.&#8221;)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A month ago, the Clarinda school district voted to end a partial-day sharing arrangement with South Page High School that had students from the latter coming to the former in the afternoons.
