The <em>Viking Mississippi<\/em> will go from St. Paul to New Orleans on 15-day excursions. <a href=\"https:\/\/decorahnews.com\/news\/5825\/no-more-delays-viking-cruise-ship-passengers-are-headed-to-decorah-in-september\/\">Decorah News reports<\/a> that hundreds of cruise-takers have signed up for a &#8220;side trip&#8221; to the Iowa town in September and October with a stop at the Vesterheim Museum.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.norwegianamerican.com\/rollin-on-the-river\/\">According to the <em>Norwegian American<\/em><\/a>, &#8220;America&#8217;s only Norwegian newspaper&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">While larger than Viking River Cruises\u2019 European river ships, the <em>Viking Mississippi\u00a0<\/em>vessel feature \u201cclean Scandinavian design.\u201d The ship\u2019s designers chose to display artwork in the staterooms of drawings done by Decorah, Iowa, area children and oil-on-canvas works by Lois T\u00f8nnessen Andersen, a Norwegian-American artist featured in our Sept. 18, 2020, issue.<\/p>\n<p>(So it&#8217;s a floating IKEA? Which is Swedish, but obviously also Scandinavian?)<\/p>\n<p>The article also details the traditional Norwegian craft classes one can take in Decorah.
