Big blasts are not planned to be part of the process.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwqc.com\/2022\/09\/22\/quad-city-residents-react-demolition-old-i-74-bridge\/\">KWQC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wqad.com\/article\/features\/old-i74-bridge-demolition-plan-no-implosion\/526-e4224ca2-5caf-40d7-b406-c9f029a3b96b\">WQAD<\/a> have news stories, neither of which I can embed, about the contractor&#8217;s decision not to have the main part of the bridges imploded. Part of the Illinois side was torn down starting in 2017 to make way for the new I-74 bridge.
