{"id":14520,"date":"2022-11-25T10:00:24","date_gmt":"2022-11-25T16:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=14520"},"modified":"2022-11-22T22:30:41","modified_gmt":"2022-11-23T04:30:41","slug":"hickman-road-exit-to-become-diverging-diamond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2022\/11\/hickman-road-exit-to-become-diverging-diamond\/","title":{"rendered":"Hickman Road exit to become diverging diamond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Hickman Road (US 6) exit on I-35\/80 will be turned into a diverging diamond interchange by the end of the decade, according to Iowa DOT plans. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcci.com\/article\/iowa-changes-coming-to-i-8035-interchange-over-hickman\/41984160\">KCCI has a story.<\/a> The DOT website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.iowadot.gov\/pim\/2022\/11\/proposed-improvements-to-interstate-8035-us-6hickman-road-interchange-to-be-discussed-in-urbandale-o.html\">blessedly has PDFs available<\/a> following the Nov. 22 public meeting.<\/p>\n<p>This project will also affect the exits to the north and south. The two loops at the Douglas Avenue exit will be elongated. Southbound I-35\/80 to University Avenue will have a two-lane exit. There will be five lanes of through traffic northbound and four lanes southbound, with auxiliary lanes (entrance doesn&#8217;t merge but becomes exit-only) between the Hickman exit and those to the north and south.<\/p>\n<p>West on Hickman, development in Waukee has overwhelmed the four-laning done in 2000.
