North Tama beat BCLUW, 36-6.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Who ya&#8217; rootin&#8217; for?<strong> N-T-H!<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em>Little louder now!<strong> N-T-H!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Part of Iowa high school sporting tradition is passing the cheers down through the years. North Tama High, unlike lots of schools in Iowa, hasn&#8217;t changed its makeup in decades. That means that if you attend enough games, you know all the cheers and can chant right along with the cheerleaders.<\/p>\n<p>Unless there aren&#8217;t cheerleaders.<\/p>\n<p>Lack of cheerleaders might be attributed to a lack of students at the smallest schools, or it might be a Generation Z lack of interest. Union High School, much larger than North Tama, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.communitynewspapergroup.com\/vinton_newspapers\/corpman-brings-the-energy-as-lone-knights-cheerleader\/article_1ae8f518-87bc-5a53-a38e-1e9847b00c38.html\">had a one-girl squad two years ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the complete soaking that a large portion of Iowa got last week, especially in counties along the US 30 corridor, North Tama&#8217;s game last week was postponed. The Redhawks<a href=\"https:\/\/www.northtamatelegraph.com\/sports\/local-sports\/2023\/10\/17\/redhawks-v-warhawks-rescheduled-to-friday-oct-20-due-to-weather\/\"> will host the North Mahaska Warhawks tonight<\/a> in a non-playoff game. (I&#8217;m sorry, but it&#8217;s just wrong to end the season in mid-October, and the 32-team bracket is stupid.)<\/p>\n<p>Someone needs to keep the cheers alive, even if it&#8217;s only from the stands.<\/p>\n<p><em>Let&#8217;s go NTH, NTH go!
