{"id":15361,"date":"2024-01-19T10:00:32","date_gmt":"2024-01-19T16:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=15361"},"modified":"2024-01-19T00:53:22","modified_gmt":"2024-01-19T06:53:22","slug":"shenandoah-somewhere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2024\/01\/shenandoah-somewhere\/","title":{"rendered":"Shenandoah, somewhere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Iowa has not one but TWO stories about babies in a blizzard:<\/p>\n<p>In western Marshall County, a sheriff&#8217;s deputy walked half a mile through the snow to assist with a delivery at a farmhouse.\u00a0<em>The Marshalltown Times-Republican<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesrepublican.com\/news\/todays-news\/2024\/01\/deputies-respond-to-woman-in-labor-during-blizzard-conditions\/\">has a clinical recap<\/a> (although, since this was a home birth, not <em>that<\/em> clinical!) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radioiowa.com\/2024\/01\/18\/marshall-county-deputy-describes-effort-to-help-deliver-a-baby-in-the-blizzard\/\">Radio Iowa has a more detailed story<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Shenandoah, the doctor drove his ATV to the hospital and\u00a0even parked in his assigned spot. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.3newsnow.com\/southwest-iowa\/shenandoah-doctor-rides-atv-through-snowstorm-to-deliver-baby\">KMTV has that story.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Shenandoah got <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/WNT\/video\/iowa-doctor-braves-snowstorm-deliver-baby-106498513\">picked up by ABC News<\/a>, only for David Muir to say that the town is <em>northwest<\/em> of Des Moines rather than southwest.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not like the national and world media have any reason to have Iowa geography at the forefront of their minds now, right?
