REALLY? Does the AP need a farm kid turned copy editor to teach the big city editors about ag-related metaphors? Perhaps they need their heads stuck in a <em>trough<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In completely unrelated news, and I mean that in this case, newspapers owned by Gannett and McClatchy <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/gannett-associated-press-contract-97405e4715c9a25d21477b992028db2a\">are dropping AP as a service<\/a>. This is pretty big for the news industry. It means that in Iowa, the <em>Des Moines Register, Ames Tribune<\/em>, and <em>Iowa City Press-Citizen<\/em> will not run AP stories, and the AP cannot take stories from them and rewrite for syndication to other news outlets. Retired KCCI news director Dave Busiek <a href=\"https:\/\/davebusiek.substack.com\/p\/the-impact-of-gannett-dropping-ap\">wrote on his Substack<\/a> about the potential implications.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: In extremely related news, <a href=\"https:\/\/theprovince.com\/sports\/basketball\/new-coach-k-kentucky-newspaper-makes-giant-gaffe-on-front-page\/wcm\/c0e078de-fd0c-4fe3-a3ac-712cb62b12fb\/amp\/\">there but for the grace of God go I<\/a>, but this is not the Coach K you are looking for.
