{"id":16153,"date":"2026-01-20T10:00:22","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T16:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=16153"},"modified":"2026-01-13T00:41:40","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T06:41:40","slug":"original-orient-school-will-be-demolished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2026\/01\/original-orient-school-will-be-demolished\/","title":{"rendered":"Original Orient school will be demolished"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The main building of Orient-Macksburg Community School will be demolished in the upcoming months, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crestonnews.com\/adair-county-free-press\/2025\/11\/20\/schools-talk-as-o-ms-closing-draws-near\/\">according to the<em> Adair County Free Press<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The school board and Orient City Council met in November to discuss the future of the school complex. For about $400,000, the 1921 building will be demolished and the engraved &#8220;Orient Consolidated School&#8221; lintel over the main entrance will be saved.
