The bad thing about Des Moines is\u00a0that it&#8217;s two hours from Omaha, three hours from Kansas City, four hours from the Twin Cities, six hours from St. Louis, and six hours from Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ca.sports.yahoo.com\/news\/mlb\u2019s-blackout-problem-keeps-sport-in-dark-ages.html\">Major League Baseball&#8217;s blackout rules<\/a>, this centralized location is a huge disadvantage. From Yahoo Sports:<\/p>\n<p><em>The arbitrariness of MLB&#8217;s territories \u2013 seriously, six teams want to claim\u00a0<strong>Iowa<\/strong>\u00a0as their own? \u2013 lends a sense of unfairness to the system.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desipio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/mlb-broadcast-map.jpg\">The map is pretty interesting.<\/a> Iowa is one of two regions to be claimed by six teams \u2014 the Brewers, Cardinals, Cubs, Royals, Twins, and White Sox. The other is southern Nevada \u2014 but what&#8217;s up with that piece of the middle of the state with a special four-team overlap?\u00a0Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Reds are sharing territory all the way down to northern Mississippi. Even the <em>Royals<\/em> claim six states.<\/p>\n<p>The writer discusses a lawsuit about the antitrust exemption that baseball has and no other sports does.
