There have been three:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/celebrating200years.noaa.gov\/magazine\/isaac_cline\/galveston1900map_650.jpg\">The Galveston hurricane of 1900<\/a>, which made it all the way to Central Iowa as a tropical depression before petering out<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Hurricane One&#8221; of 1921, a rainmaker in southern Iowa<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crh.noaa.gov\/images\/dmx\/DMXNewsletter\/2012SummerNewsletter.pdf\">Hurricane Alicia in 1983<\/a>\u00a0(see p. 8),\u00a0which entered Iowa near Missouri Valley and went northeast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The NWS didn&#8217;t (and really couldn&#8217;t) go into detail about hurricanes whose path did not enter the state but came close.<\/p>\n<p>Friday, the remnants of Hurricane Isaac made their presence known in Lee County while tracking across Missouri, as seen in this radar image from WGEM:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2231\" title=\"isaacmissouri\" src=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/isaacmissouri.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"215\" srcset=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/isaacmissouri.jpg 215w, http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/isaacmissouri-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>No, Missouri, just because you get a hurricane does not mean you belong in the SEC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Weather Service in Des Moines recently included a series in its newsletters about hurricanes whose official track went through Iowa.
