{"id":2404,"date":"2012-10-24T11:52:27","date_gmt":"2012-10-24T16:52:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=2404"},"modified":"2012-10-24T11:52:27","modified_gmt":"2012-10-24T16:52:27","slug":"sioux-city-historical-map-series-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2012\/10\/sioux-city-historical-map-series-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Sioux City historical map series changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While looking through old aerial photos of Sioux City I noticed two very little changes to its alignment that I hadn&#8217;t included in my <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/maps\/siouxcity.html\">map series<\/a>. (In fact, if I didn&#8217;t make this post I doubt they&#8217;d be seen at all.)<\/p>\n<p>First, US 75 and the railroad tracks on the south side were in a ramrod-straight diagonal until they were bent around the new I-29\/I-129 interchange.<\/p>\n<p>Second, there used to be a slightly different route through Floyd Park south of Transit Avenue, which wasn&#8217;t changed until 1981 or 1982. Much of the old road was taken out for the Floyd Park golf course, but there is a short stretch of Williams Avenue and <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/?ll=42.472706,-96.37648&amp;spn=0.00221,0.0018&amp;t=h&amp;z=19\">this odd stub of a driveway<\/a> (Google Satellite View).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve made those changes, and also waffled slightly on how much of US 75 in the city could qualify as a thicker expressway-type line.
