Coon Rapids is best known for being the site of Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev’s visit to Iowa in 1959. Farmer and seed corn developer Roswell Garst<\/a> invited him to come. There was a 50th anniversary celebration of the trip in 2009.<\/a><\/p>\n
