First, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cedarfalls.com\/ArchiveCenter\/ViewFile\/Item\/4088\">out of Monday&#8217;s Cedar Falls City Council<\/a>\u00a0meeting:<\/p>\n<p><em>Resolution approving and authorizing execution of an Agreement for Transfer of Public Road Jurisdiction with the Iowa Department of Transportation relative to the transfer of jurisdiction for University Avenue\/Iowa 934.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wcfcourier.com\/news\/local\/govt-and-politics\/city-of-cedar-falls-takes-ownership-of-university-avenue\/article_5afb256d-5f89-52a5-a4aa-7d8cbe8f1e35.html\">Waterloo Courier article here.<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kwwl.com\/story\/25507786\/2014\/05\/13\/cedar-falls-takes-control-of-university-avenue\">KWWL story here.<\/a> A former city councilman says it was &#8220;sprung up on us,&#8221; which may be true for the actual action but not as to <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2014\/04\/university-avenue-construction-needed-but-not-wanted\/\">what the state has been trying to do<\/a>\u00a0almost\u00a0since it reasserted control over University Avenue after a lapse in the 1990s. The state would love to drop $20 million on Cedar Falls&#8217; doorstep and get out so fast there&#8217;d be skid marks.<\/p>\n<p>Waterloo, however, is not involved in this, so come July 1 (?) there may be a <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia934.html\">new west end to IA 934<\/a> at the city limits. The <em>Courier<\/em> article notes at the end that the Transportation Commission must approved the deal, presumably when it approves the rest of the five-year plan.<\/p>\n<p>The second surprise is also in eastern Iowa.
