One goes through the northeast corner of Nebraska and Vermillion, while another MUCH longer one <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.iowadot.gov\/newsandinfo\/2014\/06\/interstate-29-in-south-dakota-closing-at-noon-today-iatraffic.html\">uses I-90, I-35, and I-80<\/a>. I-35 was used as a detour for I-29 in 2011, too, when floods hit western Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>The Sioux Falls <em>Argus Leader<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.argusleader.com\/story\/davidmontgomery\/2014\/06\/19\/flooding-detour\/10889979\/\">asked about the long detour<\/a>, and got a response that all interstates &#8220;must be connected&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South Dakota is using the bridge at I-29 exit 4 in South Dakota to build a levee across the interstate and try to save North Sioux City from flooding.
