This is the worst outbreak in my lifetime, and most likely the worst in Tama County history.<\/p>\n<p>The northern two townships of Tama County \u2014 the northernmost tier plus Perry and Clark specifically \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iawx.net\/2014\/06\/29\/tornado-warning-106\/\">have had<\/a> <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iawx.net\/2014\/06\/30\/tornado-warning-111\/\">three<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iawx.net\/2014\/07\/06\/tornado-warning-41\/\">days<\/a> in the past <em>eight<\/em> where tornado warnings were issued. (There was also a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iawx.net\/2014\/06\/27\/severe-thunderstorm-warning-986\/\">severe thunderstorm warning<\/a> on June 27.)<\/p>\n<p>The most recent tornado or tornadoes (may or may not have been the <a href=\"http:\/\/kcrg.com\/subject\/news\/tornado-hits-near-reinbeck-damage-reported-20140706\">same one that hit near Reinbeck<\/a>) was\/were captured on video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/T.J.Kleckner\/posts\/10154376115935451\">at the Buckingham corner<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/suzanneearley\/14406845377\/\">southwest corner of Traer<\/a>, and way way WAY <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zLPg8a89yV8\">too close for rational thought<\/a>. It nearly took out the Zobel farmstead but only hit the barn, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZobelSam\/status\/485963718228848640\">according to this tweet<\/a>\u00a0from Samantha Zobel. KWWL has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kwwl.com\/story\/25951119\/2014\/07\/06\/severe-weather-possible-this-evening#at_pco=cfd-1.0\">gallery that includes submitted pictures<\/a> taken from Traer.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crh.noaa.gov\/dmx\/?n=june30event\">expanded NWS report for the June 30 tornado<\/a>\u00a0is available now. The tornado was hard to see on radar because it was right about that time that the front congealed into a derecho that went <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.chicagotribune.com\/2014-07-02\/news\/chi-onetwo-punch-chicago-area-hit-by-a-double-derecho-20140702_1_wind-storm-chicago-area-weather-service\">east all the way to Lake Michigan<\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crh.noaa.gov\/news\/display_cmsstory.php?wfo=lot&amp;storyid=103213&amp;source=0\">Chicago NWS reports<\/a> that two <em>separate<\/em> derechos formed that day. The first is tracked back to central Iowa at 2 PM; the Traer tornado warning was issued at 2:03.<\/p>\n<p>From tornadoes to blizzards, it&#8217;s easy to see why Midwesterners have a healthy respect\/fear of nature.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>July 6, 2014:\u00a0A small tornado in Tama County was visible from the Morrison farm.
