Now the application can be completed online, report both <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radioiowa.com\/2014\/08\/11\/iowa-dot-offering-online-registration-for-speciality-personalized-license-plates\/\">Radio Iowa<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcrg.com\/subject\/news\/specialized-iowa-license-plates-now-available-online-20140811\">KCRG<\/a>. The latter also notes that only 2% of license plates active in Iowa are vanity and\/or something other than the basic six-character code (the college plates, REAP, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>One thing that isn&#8217;t changing is that unlike some states, Iowa&#8217;s college plates are limited to universities and private colleges in the state. <a href=\"http:\/\/wartburgcircuit.org\/wartburg-has-hundreds-of-license-plates-in-iowa\/\">Wartburg and Central rule the latter category<\/a>, but still have fewer than 400 apiece.
