I hope this means I won&#8217;t have a story drought later <em>this<\/em> week! (If I do, just come back here and read the ones you skipped.)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/nyti.ms\/ZDyzPY\"><em>The New York Times<\/em> had a lengthy piece<\/a> about the continued disappearance of rural Iowa and growth in urban areas. Laurens-Marathon was used for illustration of the rural side. The editing process omitted the name of the school district Dave Wilkerson works for \u2014 Waukee \u2014 that continues to add the equivalent of a rural district in enrollment every year. Political and immigration components of this continued change in Iowa are also discussed.<\/li>\n<li><em>National Journal<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationaljournal.com\/next-america\/population-2043\/do-the-most-hipster-thing-possible-move-to-des-moines-20141016\">encourages hipsters to move to Des Moines.<\/a> NOOOOOO! [prepares hipster repellent]<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/siouxcityjournal.com\/news\/remsen-marcus-school-boards-ok-grade-sharing-plan\/article_ac0f908a-9a80-5bd5-9bd6-d5fc6fab52da.html\">Remsen-Union and MMC approve grade-sharing plan<\/a> (<em>Sioux City Journal<\/em>) \u2014 but haven&#8217;t determined who gets what. <a href=\"http:\/\/siouxcityjournal.com\/news\/local\/education\/declining-enrollment-changing-faces-of-remsen-marcus-schools\/article_8b020cf0-096e-59f1-9d75-2ff5c93fff30.html\">Here&#8217;s a story from before the vote.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The new Top of Iowa superconference is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/globegazette.com\/brittnewstribune\/sports\/local\/top-of-iowa-conference-considering-future-events\/article_a10335f1-9e82-5117-8953-64282fe38abb.html \">hashing out details on scheduling<\/a>\u00a0for 2015 (<em>Britt News Tribune<\/em>). It will start out with 18 districts from Algona Garrigan to North Butler.<\/li>\n<li>Speaking of the latter,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kwwl.com\/story\/26819134\/2014\/10\/18\/north-butler-considers-greene-elementary-school-closure\">North Butler considers closing Greene Elementary<\/a> (KWWL). All elementary students would be moved to Allison; the high school is separate in Greene.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kwwl.com\/story\/26879057\/2014\/10\/23\/school-board-decision-causes-mixed-emotions\">Grundy Center is closing a school building<\/a>, but that building is not currently used for classes (KWWL). <a href=\"http:\/\/iagenweb.org\/grundy\/schoolsgrundyhistory.html\">It was built in 1939.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clintonherald.com\/news\/local_news\/dot-puts-funding-on-the-back-burner\/article_96ee8416-ee0b-57fd-9814-c4ff281502c8.html \">US 30 expansion on &#8220;back burner&#8221;<\/a> (<em>Clinton Herald<\/em>).
