Another piece happens tomorrow with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.iowadot.gov\/newsandinfo\/2014\/11\/drivers-to-experience-significant-traffic-shift-on-i-80-and-i-29-west-of-the-south-expressway-beginning-nov-7-iatraffic.html\">lane shift on I-29\/80 west of the IA 192 exit<\/a>. I saw the concrete nearly ready on my trip last month, and a sign assembly that might raise your eyebrows if you&#8217;re paying attention:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5476\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/New29SignCB.jpg\" width=\"355\" height=\"109\" srcset=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/New29SignCB.jpg 355w, http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/New29SignCB-300x92.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 355px) 100vw, 355px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not the best quality, I know. This is before the west split. The left sign gives distances to the next three exits <em>on I-29 in Iowa<\/em>, including I-480\/US 6 at the bottom.<em>\u00a0<\/em>The exit tab<em> uses I-29&#8217;s number <\/em>(meaning it&#8217;s exiting from itself, at least for now)<em>.\u00a0<\/em>Both of these changes are likely in preparation for the lanes underneath becoming the I-29 &#8220;Local lanes&#8221; when the expansion is complete a decade from now.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: I&#8217;ve been told that left sign was not intended to be installed yet and will be removed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Council Bluffs interstate project continues its slow progress.
