I shouldn&#8217;t need to use a metaphorical clue-bat here.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The last posts at the <em>Lime Springs Herald<\/em>&#8216;s online news site, dated Jan. 16, deliver twin blows to the Howard County town.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/limespringsherald.wordpress.com\/2015\/01\/16\/lime-springs-school-to-close-preschool-will-move-to-spring-ahead-learning-center\/\">The Howard-Winneshiek school board voted to close the elementary school<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/limespringsherald.wordpress.com\/2015\/01\/16\/need-stories-about-herald\/\">the last print issue of the <em>Herald<\/em><\/a> was set for Feb. 12. The longer story about the paper&#8217;s shutdown\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/limespringsherald.wordpress.com\/2015\/01\/13\/lime-springs-herald-to-print-last-newspaper-in-february\/\">ran three days earlier<\/a>. Both functions will move to Cresco, the elementary school and the <em>Times-Plain Dealer<\/em> there.<\/p>\n<p>I <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2014\/12\/elma-elementary-closed-is-lime-springs-next\/\">speculated about the school in the middle of December<\/a> after finding out about Elma. The end of the paper, though, is a surprise. Given that there have been no updates to the WordPress-hosted site since then, I assume there won&#8217;t be.\u00a0The timing really makes it hurt, yet all so very fitting.
