Iowa State doesn&#8217;t get to have nice things.<\/p>\n<p>UAB 60, ISU 59. Done before 2 PM on the first day of the tournament in a game with enough bricks to build a new Campanile.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa State is the <del>fourth<\/del> sixth team to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/NCAA_Men's_Division_I_Basketball_Championship_upsets\">lose first-round games as both a 2 and 3 seed<\/a>, after Arizona, South Carolina, Missouri, Duke, and Georgetown.<\/p>\n<p>Lost by 1, just like against Hampton.<\/p>\n<p>False hope is worse than death.<\/p>\n<p>BONUS INSULT TO INJURY: Iowa TV station promos are probably scheduled to run the whole weekend with &#8220;We&#8217;re following the Hawkeyes, Cyclones and Panthers in the tournament!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: Added South Carolina and Georgetown to the list of 2-seed\/3-seed victims.
