{"id":5992,"date":"2015-04-13T10:22:33","date_gmt":"2015-04-13T15:22:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=5992"},"modified":"2015-04-07T23:37:21","modified_gmt":"2015-04-08T04:37:21","slug":"ahstw-staying-ahstw-after-consolidation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2015\/04\/ahstw-staying-ahstw-after-consolidation\/","title":{"rendered":"AHSTW staying AHSTW after consolidation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A proposed consolidation of the AHST and Walnut school districts next year would <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonpareilonline.com\/news\/local\/ahstw-boards-agree-on-name-start-petition-process\/article_d9b16cc0-cd02-11e4-b67e-c3ed88e1e711.html\">result in &#8230; the AHSTW school district<\/a>, the <em>Council Bluffs Nonpareil<\/em> reported last month.<\/p>\n<p>The new district, which would <a href=\"http:\/\/sos.iowa.gov\/elections\/pdf\/schools\/maps\/2010\/A-H-S-T1.pdf\">erase one of the straighter boundaries out there today<\/a>, would be a continuation of the recent whole-grade sharing agreement between the two old districts and span nearly 20 miles along I-80 in western Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>The photo with the <em>Nonpareil<\/em> story says Walnut will still house an elementary school, but an <em>Omaha World-Herald<\/em> story from February <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omaha.com\/news\/education\/walnut-iowa-school-may-be-sold-to-city\/article_3ceaf4ae-bf67-11e4-ab9a-3f289190f669.html?mode=jqm\">indicated the building could be sold to the city<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>(And yes, I am <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2015\/01\/why-not-stick-with-ahstw\/\">pleased with this development<\/a>.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A proposed consolidation of the AHST and Walnut school districts next year would result in &#8230; the AHSTW school district, the Council Bluffs Nonpareil reported last month.
