The 1914 building was kept by itself while an entirely new building was constructed in the mid-20th century (<a href=\"http:\/\/ortho.gis.iastate.edu\/client_pls.cgi?zoom=1&amp;x0=664957&amp;y0=4658349&amp;layer=naip_2013_nc&amp;action=layerortho_1950&amp;pwidth=600&amp;pheight=450\">before the 1950s aerial photos<\/a>) and <em>that<\/em> building was the one that got later additions.<\/p>\n<p>Now, after closing all auxiliary sites except the elementary in Oxford Junction, Midland is going to build another school around the &#8220;younger&#8221; one. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.midland.k12.ia.us\/PDFs\/Bond%20building%20design.pdf\">The plan (PDF)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcrg.com\/subject\/news\/school-elections-midland-measures-approved-college-community-bond-rejected-20150407\">approved in last week&#8217;s bond referendum<\/a>, uses the existing building as a core while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.midland.k12.ia.us\/PDFs\/Bond%20building%20exterior.pdf\">glomming on a second gym and a two-floor expansion<\/a>\u00a0(PDF).
