This time, the retransmission-fee dispute was with Media General, which owns <a href=\"http:\/\/globegazette.com\/news\/local\/mediacom-media-general-reach-agreement-kimt-returns-to-cable-tv\/article_2768c27c-ec86-543b-8295-ea8b00975afd.html\">KIMT<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/qctimes.com\/business\/mediacom-kwqc-owner-come-to-agreement\/article_cff4767c-cb04-544c-a9fb-e528a5f98ccf.html\">KWQC<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Mediacom\/comments\/3de0vz\/open_letter_to_mediacom_customers\/\">KELO<\/a>**.<\/p>\n<p>The link from Broadcasting and Cable reports the additional nugget (as I interpret it) that places where the Media General stations were carried as a nearby but not primary affiliate will be dropped. It doesn&#8217;t say whether that would affect any Iowa locations \u2014 but I had <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2015\/02\/kimt-cuts-weather-map-area-in-half\/\">this blog post from February<\/a> about KIMT cutting its weather map area, and a comparison of WQAD&#8217;s most recent weather-cast to a map from last year shows it&#8217;s dropped every non-border county in Iowa except Henry, and also dropped Lee County.<\/p>\n<p>*I had written &#8220;on the air&#8221; but the whole point isn&#8217;t about availability on\u00a0the public airwaves, but on Mediacom cable, where it seems we can&#8217;t go a year without a dust-up like this.<\/p>\n<p>**That link goes not to KELO but the reprinting of a form letter from Mediacom with its side of the story.
