It had to be completely rebuilt after flooding destroyed the concrete and the roadbed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.omaha.com\/article\/20111102\/NEWS01\/711029905\/1008\">Omaha World-Herald story here.<\/a> Best quote, though, is from KETV\/AP and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ketv.com\/missouri-river-flooding-extended-coverage\/29667245\/detail.html\">Council Bluffs Mayor Tom Hanafan<\/a>: &#8220;This is the first submerged interstate I know of that was destroyed by a flood. It was the first that was repaired in record time. And last of all, it&#8217;s probably the first that will open today and have snow plows on it tonight.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The DOT has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iowadot.gov\/floods\/2011floodgallery.html\">website of photo galleries.<\/a> It does not appear that photos are available for individual viewing. There&#8217;s also a standalone <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iowadot.gov\/floods\/Time%20lapse%20Video%20I-680%20Reconstruction.wmv\">time-lapse video<\/a> of I-680 reconstruction. The most interesting\/amusing thing: Some of the signs along the road stayed in place the whole time.
