Also in southwest Iowa, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonpareilonline.com\/news\/local\/farragut-voters-reject-ppel-while-f-m-approves-bond-issue\/article_aab28bc6-ba5c-5509-b03a-eca9a0e3a74e.html\">Fremont-Mills approved a bond issue<\/a>, but it&#8217;s about the only winner this week. Throughout the state, other bond issues not only failed to reach a supermajority but outright lost. Among them were\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kwwl.com\/story\/29994385\/2015\/09\/09\/monticello-voters-shoot-down-22-million-bond\">Monticello<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/siouxcityjournal.com\/news\/local\/school-election-results-voters-turn-down-levy-for-new-middle\/article_d565a1b1-8734-56ef-862d-334cfd65c3c8.html\">Okoboji, Sergeant Bluff-Luton<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kwwl.com\/story\/29986400\/2015\/09\/09\/voters-turn-down-bond-referendums-in-several-school-districts\">East Buchanan, and Highland<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 the last was the one that would have closed the school buildings in Ainsworth and Riverside. Akron-Westfield <a href=\"http:\/\/siouxcityjournal.com\/news\/local\/education\/akron-westfield-school-bond-vote-falls-short\/article_6c9bc6de-5f81-5a45-b7c8-8791ef299bf4.html\">had a majority but needed a supermajority<\/a> (as was the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcrg.com\/subject\/news\/education\/k-12-education\/bond-issues-for-cedar-falls-central-community-fail-20150630\">case in Cedar Falls<\/a> a few months ago). KMEG says <a href=\"http:\/\/www.siouxlandnews.com\/story\/29996486\/voters-reject-several-school-bond-issues-in-siouxland\">the A-W margin was 22 votes.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kmaland.com\/news\/hinrichs---time-to-roll-up-our-sleeves\/article_6baa85fe-5704-11e5-9a0f-c76d2dfcd2e2.html\">failure of a PPEL vote in Farragut<\/a>, though, may be the most important of all of Tuesday&#8217;s votes. As a PPEL (Physical Plant and Equipment Levy) rather than a bond issue it only needed half plus one, but lost by nine votes. Farragut <em>must<\/em> have certain renovations\/additions completed in order to be in ADA compliance and keep its state accreditation. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kmaland.com\/news\/farragut-receives-doe-thumbs-up\/article_fb775f26-ce4d-11e4-bcb8-f7312e85872a.html \">It&#8217;s under a conditional accreditation this school year.<\/a>\u00a0This is after the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonpareilonline.com\/news\/local\/area-voters-say-yes-no-at-the-polls\/article_77506e74-7a9a-11e4-a304-97284005eeac.html\">merger vote with Hamburg failed<\/a>, so Farragut (and really, both districts) are dancing on the line between existence and forced dissolution.
