{"id":6721,"date":"2015-11-05T10:00:19","date_gmt":"2015-11-05T16:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=6721"},"modified":"2015-11-04T10:57:00","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T16:57:00","slug":"central-clinton-officially-renamed-central-dewitt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2015\/11\/central-clinton-officially-renamed-central-dewitt\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Clinton officially renamed Central DeWitt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The school district in the central part of Clinton County has made good on its intention to disassociate itself with the county.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Central DeWitt&#8221; name change <a href=\"http:\/\/wqad.com\/2015\/10\/30\/dewitt-iowa-school-district-finalizes-name-change\/\">passed overwhelmingly in the district, reports WQAD<\/a>. It can&#8217;t be simply &#8220;Central&#8221; because the state of Iowa already has a district with that name \u2014 which, naturally, is near the northeast corner of the state. So now the &#8220;Central&#8221; doesn&#8217;t mean anything, because DeWitt doesn&#8217;t have multiple high schools (and even then, as I&#8217;ve said before, the city name would come <em>first<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Alphabetically, the name moves below Central Decatur in a full list, but the code on tax forms and such things won&#8217;t change.<\/p>\n<p>The whole thing is an unnecessary overreaction \u2014 I can&#8217;t tell you how many times you say &#8220;North Tama&#8221; and people think about the town of Tama \u2014 but at least people know where DeWitt is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The school district in the central part of Clinton County has made good on its intention to disassociate itself with the county.
