{"id":7227,"date":"2017-10-18T10:00:56","date_gmt":"2017-10-18T15:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=7227"},"modified":"2017-10-17T10:10:42","modified_gmt":"2017-10-17T15:10:42","slug":"who-gets-the-flugelhorn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2017\/10\/who-gets-the-flugelhorn\/","title":{"rendered":"Who gets the flugelhorn?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Questions that must be asked, just not to the State Board of Education&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>All other issues raised, including the ownership of the &#8220;famous flugelhorn,&#8221; are deemed irrelevant to the question of the legality of the whole-grade sharing agreement and accordingly no further discussion or resolution.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.educateiowa.gov\/sites\/files\/ed\/documents\/book10dec342.pdf\">second-to-last paragraph of the state dismissal of an appeal<\/a> from parents in the United school district (the one between Boone and Ames with a 55 mph &#8220;school zone&#8221; on US 30) in 1992.<\/p>\n<p>I know that United entered into a whole-grade sharing agreement with both Boone and Ames in 2010, but I didn&#8217;t realize the high school had closed before that. Now, the 1992 decision references Boone sending its sixth-graders to United and an option to enroll in Gilbert, but I don&#8217;t know if that was carried out, and if so, for how long.
