{"id":8277,"date":"2017-01-24T10:00:48","date_gmt":"2017-01-24T16:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=8277"},"modified":"2017-01-22T17:36:38","modified_gmt":"2017-01-22T23:36:38","slug":"dubuque-transfer-has-a-catch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2017\/01\/dubuque-transfer-has-a-catch\/","title":{"rendered":"Dubuque transfer has a catch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/LabDay08\/End32N.jpg\" width=\"470\" height=\"270\" \/><br \/>\n<em><strong>September 2, 2008:<\/strong> North end of IA 32 <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/sageville.html\">in Sageville<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Iowa Transportation Commission approved the transfer of jurisdiction of all of IA 32 and the part of US 52\/IA 3 inside the city of Dubuque\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.iowadot.gov\/newsandinfo\/2017\/01\/actions-taken-by-the-iowa-transportation-commission-at-its-jan-10-meeting-in-ames.html\">at its meeting in Ames last week<\/a>. I asked the DOT back in October \u2014 when the transfer was inadvertently included and then removed from the agenda \u2014 if anything was going to change before the Southwest Arterial opened. I was told at the time that there would <em>not<\/em> be any change in signs until that happened, which won&#8217;t be until 2019 or 2020. In addition, Iowa will have to apply to the AASHTO Special Committee on US Route Numbering to reroute US 52 along IA 136 and US 20 and the not-yet-built arterial.<\/p>\n<p>So, unless and until signs are down in the field, IA 32 is a &#8220;dead highway walking&#8221; but is not a decommissioned route.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September 2, 2008: North end of IA 32 in Sageville.
