(Video at the link.) It&#8217;s a huge transformation, discombobulating even.<\/p>\n<p>The newsroom space (where you see the reporters working on iMacs in the decade-old file footage) is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newspapers.com\/clip\/5293975\/21_jun_1949_dedication_of_new_register\/\">part of the 1949 addition<\/a>. The giant hole that was once the pressroom underneath is still vacant, though.<\/p>\n<p>Kyle Munson wrote a column about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/local\/columnists\/kyle-munson\/2017\/04\/15\/our-old-newspaper-building-now-luxury-lofts-but-we-still-love-like-family-farm\/100277614\/\">touring the renovated building<\/a>, which has a slightly different address.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>June 11, 2013: View down the staircase that runs the height of the 1918 Register &amp; Tribune Building.
