{"id":9453,"date":"2017-12-19T10:00:12","date_gmt":"2017-12-19T16:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=9453"},"modified":"2017-12-16T11:20:40","modified_gmt":"2017-12-16T17:20:40","slug":"benton-county-in-town-endpoint-photos-added","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2017\/12\/benton-county-in-town-endpoint-photos-added\/","title":{"rendered":"Benton County in-town endpoint photos added"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I said I was going to start including post-1969 pre-1980 endpoints in pages as I got around to them, and fortunately, the biggest cluster of such points is in easy driving distance.<\/p>\n<p>All of the Benton County spurs except IA 82 and 201 had their endpoints changed in the Great Decommissioning. All but IA 199 and 201 had a <em>different<\/em> endpoint at original commissioning; my copies of Highway Commission minutes from 1936 dovetailed with the route descriptions posted online a while ago, enabling me to piece things together. I am just going to note earlier ends, not chase after them, because the other one was usually at the other end of the business district.<\/p>\n<p>Highways with at least one new photo: <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia82.html\">82<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia198.html\">198<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia199.html\">199<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia200.html\">200<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia201.html\">201<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia279.html\">279<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia287.html\">287<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia363.html\">history for IA 363<\/a> in Urbana was a little more complicated. (<em>Did I need to make a map<\/em>, I asked myself? <em>Why yes, I <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/maps\/urbanamap.png\">do need to make a map<\/a>!<\/em>) That page also needed and got photos of the generic interchange signing at I-380.<\/p>\n<p>Just over the border in Linn County, I added photos for the new end of <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia100.html\">IA 100<\/a> and photos at either end of <a href=\"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/ends\/ia94.html\">IA 94<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t get around Iowa much this year, but these additions show at least some work. Some of the pictures were taken during that long period in May when the sun didn&#8217;t come out. I thought I could take advantage of that for the directions signs would usually be in bad light.
