(<a href=\"http:\/\/wqad.com\/2018\/02\/14\/you-can-now-experience-the-new-i-74-bridge-using-virtual-reality\/\">Story: WQAD<\/a>) The library&#8217;s promotion of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.molinelibrary.com\/255\/I-74-River-Bridge-A-Virtual-Experience\">&#8220;unique, immersive experience&#8221;<\/a> made possible by collaboration between the Iowa DOT and Iowa State University&#8217;s Institute for Transportation also goes below the waterline, offering a look at the wildlife and ecosystem of the river.<\/p>\n<p>The old bridge view cuts off at the ends of the bridges themselves, so you can&#8217;t see how the alignments will integrate. However, it&#8217;s a great tool for preservation of what those old bridges looked like after they&#8217;re demolished.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mtobPt9f51k\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Moline library is on 41st Street north; from Iowa, it looks like the best way is to exit at Avenue of the Cities, then go east, then south.<\/p>\n<p>Also of note for I-74: The <a href=\"http:\/\/qctimes.com\/news\/local\/i--construction-reaches-another-milestone\/article_962f0a53-51bc-52df-bf9e-6de1263092ec.html\n\">&#8220;first very, very large concrete pour&#8221;<\/a> for a concrete pedestal \u2014 nearly 1000 cubic yards \u2014 was made Feb. 15.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This looks pretty cool: Through May, the Moline Public Library will offer a &#8220;VR experience&#8221; of the old and new I-74 Mississippi River bridges.
