At the turn of the 21st century, GTE&#8217;s Iowa assets were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.verizon.com\/about\/news\/press-releases\/gte-sell-all-its-iowa-local-telephone-properties-iowa-network-services-ins-inc\">sold to Iowa Network Services<\/a>, which within a year turned into Iowa Telecom. Iowa Telecom, in turn, got <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radioiowa.com\/2010\/06\/02\/winstream-completes-the-purchase-of-iowa-telecom\/\">eaten up by Windstream in 2010<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But also spotted this month was one that&#8217;s making a <em>Logan&#8217;s Run<\/em>-esque escape from the authorities: a light-blue embossed numbers-first CTY.
