{"id":9966,"date":"2018-05-23T10:08:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T15:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=9966"},"modified":"2018-05-23T12:05:29","modified_gmt":"2018-05-23T17:05:29","slug":"fareway-anniversary-includes-logo-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2018\/05\/fareway-anniversary-includes-logo-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Fareway anniversary includes logo change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This kind of snuck up on me (and perhaps others) in a pair of trips to different Fareway locations recently: I knew the Boone-based grocery store chain is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fareway.com\/about\/news\/fareway-launches-new-logos-in-conjunction-with-80th-anniversary\">celebrating its 80th anniversary this year<\/a>, but didn&#8217;t know that the &#8220;Economical Food Stores&#8221; logo is on its way out. The &#8220;shield of quality&#8221; is moving to a secondary logo \u2014 though, of course, the chain says the emphasis on quality itself remains the same.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Boone News-Republican<\/em> (reprinted at the <em>Ames Tribune<\/em>) has an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amestrib.com\/news\/20180516\/fareway-celebrating-80-years-as-neighborhood-grocer\">interview with the current president<\/a> that also looks back at the company&#8217;s past.<\/p>\n<p>Some time ago, the &#8220;Fastco&#8221; store-brand label was phased out on everything except pop, and now even that&#8217;s gone. It will take a while to get used to not seeing the logo that&#8217;s been on storefronts and ads since forever (at least 1984-85, based on a spot check of <em>Cedar Valley Daily Times<\/em> archives).
