- In 1920, they knew it as: A route from downtown Council Bluffs to Lake Manawa State Park
- We know it as: The south half of the former IA 192 corridor
- Let's get granular: Main Street, 16th Avenue, 7th Street, 25th Avenue, Expressway Street in Council Bluffs
NORTH End: Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County
There are two places this highway could have ended: Main Street at 9th Avenue, where it met IA 8/12/104, or Main Street at Broadway. Broadway carried the Lincoln Highway (IA 6) for sure, and probably also IA 2 and 7 to this location.
SOUTH End: Lake Manawa State Park, Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County
There have been not one but THREE separate numbers for the road to Lake Manawa, nonconsecutively. IA 86 was dropped, but less than three years later, a new highway following the same route was created, plus an extension eastward. This route was numbered IA 241. Five weeks later, without explanation, this happened.
