A painting of a road sign. "High" art. A photograph of a painting of a road sign. "Low" art.

Exterior of Pennsylvania's capitol. BTW, the official state museum, which I also visited, began charging admission on July 1, 2009, because of...budget cuts.

It rained as we left Harrisburg on I-81 and eventually picked up I-76 to New Stanton.

July 2: Going through Pittsburgh. These pictures are already historical because of the truncation of I-279.

Here you can see the co-signage of soon-to-be-truncated I-279 and soon-to-be-extended I-376.

Followed US 30 from Pittsburgh to clip West Virginia on the way to Canton, Ohio.

Pro Football Hall of Fame!

Brett Favre retires...or, uh, not.

Part of Kurt Warner is already in the Hall, just not the official bust.

More Clearview in Ohio heading to a quick clinch of I-277.

Western end of eastern I-76, months after I clinched the western I-76,

Follow US 224 and US 250 through north-central Ohio.

Two highways far apart in Iowa join in Ohio, in this case 6 and 20.

Construction to upgrade US 20/23 to four lanes here. OH 420 connects to the Turnpike.

Starting the last day from Toledo, coming down on I-280.

Jay Berwanger, from Dubuque, first Heisman winner; Nile Kinnick, went to Iowa, also won Heisman; and some other guy. :-P

The only Iowa State player in the College Football Hall of Fame. (And he's not even from the '70s!)

Pay close attention to the words. "Most universally treasured phenomenons in American pop culture"? Not quite.

Earle Bruce and Hayden Fry next to each other? Someone has a very weird sense of humor/irony.

I've clinched I-80 in Indiana but still haven't done it in one shot.

Black Clearview on orange? Is that legal?

For July 3, traffic was surprisingly light around Chicago. Three hundred miles to home.
