{"id":14260,"date":"2022-08-10T11:30:20","date_gmt":"2022-08-10T16:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=14260"},"modified":"2022-08-10T10:58:42","modified_gmt":"2022-08-10T15:58:42","slug":"were-not-getting-the-tram-back-are-we","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2022\/08\/were-not-getting-the-tram-back-are-we\/","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;re not getting the tram back, are we?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Iowa State Fair <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcci.com\/article\/attendees-struggle-to-get-around-iowa-state-fair-fairgrounds-without-free-tram-accessability\/37312028\">killed off the interior tram last year<\/a>, said nothing about it coming back, and kept the official website on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iowastatefair.org\/visit\/disability-assistance\">&#8220;safety protocols&#8221; wording<\/a> that might have passed last year but not now. It&#8217;s up to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kniakrls.com\/2022\/07\/05\/pleasantville-ffa-seeking-tram-drivers-for-state-fair-fundraiser\/\">KNIA\/KRLS story<\/a> from last month about the Pleasantville FFA&#8217;s volunteer operation to tell the truth:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Last year the indoor trams were cut due to covid and funding issues so we only did the trams outside of the fair,&#8221; Pleasantville FFA Alumni President Marris Clark told the radio stations. The tram &#8220;outside the fair&#8221; is a shuttle that runs <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bgd-sites\/isf\/documents\/Blue-Line-Parking-Shuttle.pdf\">back and forth across the parking lots<\/a> on the north side of the fairgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;d think that providing an important service to fairgoers \u2014 an <em>essential<\/em> one if you&#8217;re over 60 and interested in going to Pioneer Hall or the Cultural Center \u2014 would be something to keep active, but I guess not.
