{"id":15935,"date":"2025-06-11T10:00:03","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T15:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/?p=15935"},"modified":"2025-06-10T00:47:58","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T05:47:58","slug":"big-us-30-us-169-closure-in-boone-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iowahighwayends.net\/blog\/2025\/06\/big-us-30-us-169-closure-in-boone-county\/","title":{"rendered":"Big US 30\/US 169 closure in Boone County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The interesting part of the DOT press release about the <a href=\"https:\/\/iowadot.gov\/news\/2025-06-02\/closure-us-30-greeneboone-county-line-east-ogden-begins-june-16\">closure of US 30 west of Ogden<\/a>\u00a0starting Monday is that it mentions a <em>concrete<\/em> overlay project instead of the usual <em>asphalt<\/em> overlay.<\/p>\n<p>But if you live anywhere in the area, or are going to be driving either road, the official detours for <em>both<\/em> US 30 and US 169 are looooong.<\/p>\n<p>Southbound 169 between 30 and E57 will be the <a href=\"https:\/\/iowadot.gov\/media\/11853\/download?inline\">detour for westbound 30<\/a>. Westbound E57 past Berkley to Rippey, and then IA 144 north to Grand Junction, will be the detour for westbound 30 <em>and<\/em> northbound 169. At that point 30 will resume its regular route while northbound 169 <a href=\"https:\/\/iowadot.gov\/media\/11854\/download?inline\">will continue its detour north<\/a> on 144 to Dana and then east on E26.<\/p>\n<p>The Lincoln Highway Middle Third Tour is avoiding this construction by following the 1914-1922 version of the route, which is one mile north of 30 on gravel 210th Street.
