Because Nebraska law forbids state ownership of toll bridges, the bridge will become free.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of three toll Iowa Missouri River crossings left. If new US 34 opens across the river this year, it&#8217;s conceivable that the state will have no toll crossings next year. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omaha.com\/article\/20120504\/NEWS01\/705049915\">UPDATE: It won&#8217;t.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On a somewhat related note, the US 159 bridge across the Missouri, <del>the only<\/del> one of two connections between Missouri and Nebraska, <a href=\"http:\/\/journalstar.com\/news\/state-and-regional\/rulo-bridge-on-track-for-fall-opening\/article_24e6ac09-5f67-585e-bd11-46116dce1a38.html\">is also being replaced<\/a>. Looks like I&#8217;ll have to go down and clinch US 159 again.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE 2\/12: Forgot US 136 between Nebraska and Missouri. Silly me.
