The gym floor was replaced in summer 1997 or summer 1998.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tama County&#8217;s fifth-largest town has lost its school.<\/p>\n<p>The Gladbrook-Reinbeck school board voted Wednesday night <a href=\"http:\/\/wcfcourier.com\/news\/local\/education\/gladbrook-school-to-close-next-fall-to-cut-costs\/article_d0d2f8e8-f6a3-564a-a983-d5ac7c1fa387.html\">to close the elementary in Gladbrook<\/a> and send all K-6 students to Reinbeck. <a href=\"http:\/\/wcfcourier.com\/news\/local\/gladbrook-resident-asks-court-to-block-school-closing\/article_f41f133b-269c-5cf6-b50b-4ae1e1d4b44b.html\">A resident wants the courts to stop it<\/a>\u00a0but there isn&#8217;t much that can be done.<\/p>\n<p>The Gladbrook and Reinbeck school districts started whole-grade sharing in 1988 and officially merged in 1998. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icip.iastate.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/district_2013\/sd_2502.pdf\">Enrollment in the past decade has dropped significantly<\/a>. Surrounding school districts, including North Tama, have been suffering the same problem.<\/p>\n<p>The undefeated, top-ranked GR boys&#8217; basketball team <a href=\"http:\/\/wcfcourier.com\/sports\/high-school\/district-basketball-rebels-keep-doing-their-thing\/article_47cee5fa-55f4-586c-b157-092bad2b8e7c.html\">plays for a berth in the state tournament Saturday night,<\/a>\u00a0after doubling up the score on NT Tuesday.
