The only one smaller is Le Mars Gehlen, with 95, and the next up is Algona Garrigan, with 109. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.traerstarclipper.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/521899.html\">Heck of a time to start a capital campaign, Redhawks.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gehlen, North Tama, Garrigan, and Lynnville-Sully are the only four schools with a BEDS number under 115 \u2014 the cap for 8-man football \u2014 that will play 11. There are five teams with a BEDS number above 115 allowed to play 8 \u2014 Northwood-Kensett,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.radioonthego.com\/index.php\/contentdetail\/contentdetails\/6\/12\/15038\">AGWSR(!)<\/a>, Wayne, Easton Valley, and a combined Graettinger-Terril\/Ruthven-Ayrshire \u2014 based on enrollment projections.<\/p>\n<p>Along with AGWSR, Iowa Valley is another district-football-era North Tama opponent\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thegazette.com\/subject\/sports\/ihsaa-announces-football-classification-for-2016-2017-20160107\">to make the drop to 8.<\/a>\u00a0It&#8217;s the fifth such team based in a county seat (Marengo), although Guthrie Center had been but now is the smallest 1A school<del> (possibly for travel-related reasons)<\/del>.<\/p>\n<p>The Redhawks will start next season six years removed from a state championship but only one year removed from a winless season, with a new coach, in an at-least-slightly reconstituted district, with a numerical disadvantage for bodies on the field.
